I am a recent graduate from the University of Northern Iowa's Department of Art. I received my Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in Studio Ceramics and a minor in Art History.

While attending UNI I began working with figurative ceramics and have been doing so ever since.

In today's society people hide behind imaginary/masks of someone or something they really aren't. Most people keep these alternate masks on at all times and let very little light shed on who they truly are. In some writings, people use metaphors to describe these alternative personalities and the true character of that person. A lot of these metaphors consist of describing that person as a certain animal. Blending the person and their animal counterpart is what intrigues me. Those metaphors are where I gather all my influence for what animals to use in my work. Within the ceramic sculpture I find that happy medium where I'm able to blend the animal and human figures as one.

My current body of work is an accumulation of figurative ceramic pieces that explore the links of people and their animal kingdom counterpart. Rather than hidden away, their personal traits are exposed on top of the surface for all to see. Everything is 'exposed', from personal traits of each figure, down to the raw pedestals they each sit upon. The works pedestals are left in raw format to show what they truly are. They aren't being hidden by white paint or fancy stencils, they just are what they are, similar to the works that rest upon the tops.
